Afters LA

Field notes

How afters work in LA

Last call is statewide at 2:00 AM. Anything that still has a dance floor after that is an afters — licensed late rooms, speakeasies, or unlicensed warehouses whose address you get the same day.

Where the listings come from

  • Resident Advisor — best for techno/house warehouses. Location often emailed two hours before doors. Opt in to RA mail or you miss it.
  • Dice, Posh, Shotgun, Eventbrite — club tickets and some afters. Posh SMS is how many TBA addresses arrive.
  • Instagram: @nightshift.la, @blindtiger.la, @thelaraver, @iluvincognito, plus individual warehouse crews. Many accounts are private.
  • The LA Raver weekly itinerary marks afters and TBA warehouses. Word of mouth at Sound, 1720, Catch One, and Academy after 1:30 AM still matters.

The 2 AM problem

Clubs fill around 10–11 PM and pour until ~1:30 AM. If you want afters, do not wait until the lights come up to find a ticket. Warehouse parties sell out Friday afternoon. Nightshift at The Lexington is the exception: it is listed seven nights a week, 11 PM–5 AM, with a known alley entrance.

What it costs

  • Nightshift: free RSVP before 1 AM, then about $25.
  • Warehouse afters: typically $15–$40. Festival unofficial afters can hit $40.
  • Sound / Exchange / Academy: $25–$80 cover. Tables start in the hundreds.
  • Catch One / Los Globos: often $10–$25, some 18+.
  • Hip-hop afters with bottles: $300+ bottle minimums.

TBA warehouses

Address is sent to the name on the ticket. Do not post it. Do not pregame on the sidewalk. Neighbors and LAPD close nights. Rideshare in and out — industrial pockets of DTLA, Arts District, and Vernon are not transit-friendly at 4 AM. Bring ID that matches the ticket.

Safety

  • Stick to crews with a public track record (Blind Tiger, Incognito, LA Raver, WORK).
  • Unlicensed rooms get shut down. Have a backup (Nightshift) and a rideshare plan.
  • Earplugs. Water. A charged phone. Tell someone the neighborhood, not the pin.
  • Warehouse parties have had violent incidents. Leave if security feels theatrical or absent.
  • Listings here are a guide compiled for this week — always re-check the ticket page.

A clean night stack

  1. 10:00 PM — Sound, Catch One, or Exchange (ticket already on your phone).
  2. 1:15 AM — last drink, last call coming.
  3. 1:40 AM — rideshare to the afters address that just landed, or the Lexington alley.
  4. 5:00 AM — out. Breakfast is on you.
